How to Order Ledge Shelves
When it comes to ordering ledge shelves, there are a few tips to keep in mind for a successful project.
- 2/3 Rule: Choose a ledge shelf that is 2/3 of the space around it. So, if placing on a narrow wall, choose a shelf 2/3 that length. Or, if it's being placed above a dresser cabinet, select a ledge 2/3 that length. It's a general rule that doesn't need to be exact but ensures good proportion.
- Check for Stud Placement: It's optimal to place any shelf in a stud, or it least try and hit 1-2 stud per shelf. Before ordering check studs in advance and use our diagrams to line up hole placement.
- Use Painter's Tape: Need a visual? Use painter's tape to mark of each shelf location. This helps check the size before ordering and spacing between shelves.
Picture Ledge Display
A great way to use our ledge shelves is by displaying photographs. This creates a modern gallery wall and allows for photos and frames to be changed out over time. When spacing, be sure to include enough space between each shelf to allow for the frame size.
